Chapter
10- The Queen of Jupiter: Birthright
"You have found favor with the
Princess. For your valor and bravery, I name you her escort and body
guard." Ken stood and he accepted the medals designating his new title and
office. He was about to look at his beautiful charge. RING! The alarm clock
woke him.
"What a weird dream! I thought it
felt familiar," he thought to himself. He managed to get changed and
eating breakfast. He pictured Lita. "How can one girl be that
beautiful?" he sighed at the thought. He waited for 12 noon.
Lita dressed in her vanilla sweater over
her red leggings. She woke up early to make a picnic lunch. Every possible type
of food that Ken loved, she made. "I hope he'll like this."
After an hour, she packed the food and her
communicator. She left her apartment for the old elementary school. As she
stepped onto the bus, she had a feeling that today would change her life
forever. "Oh Mama, Papa. I wish you were here to see me. There is so much
that will happen to me that you be here to see."
Raye was meditating by the Great Fire.
Chad walked in and left a tray of food beside her. She was on the alert trying
to discover where the Fury Sisters were, but with little success. She soon
relaxed out of fatigue and despair. Chad saw the tension in her head and
massaged her temples. "How's it going?"
She smiled at the massage. "Not much.
I did sense something," she said seriously.
"What's that?" he gave her a
light hug.
She began eating. "I have been given
the impression of a great battle with them. I hope we will be ready. Especially
that meatball head leader of ours." Raye sighed and finished her meal.
"Don't worry Raye. We'll have the
power to stop them," Chad said with optimistic reassurance.
"I hope so." She swallowed down
her tea.
Serena woke up late and read her teen
magazines. Luna began chastising her. "Serena! What are you doing?"
"Oh, get off it, Luna. I'm trying to
relax. The Negaverse has been rough and I need a rest now," yawned Serena.
"I can't believe you are going to be
the wise and powerful Neo-Queen Serenity." Luna's head was bent with a
huge sweat drop.
"Luna! I can't believe you! You don't
honestly believe that every great leader was always so serious do you?"
Serena replied.
Luna only sighed. "That may be true,
but those great leaders learned TO GROW UP!" she shouted and Serena fell
off her bed with a thump. Luna leaned over the side and simply said, "Will
you ever learn?"
Mina was at her acting classes that
Saturday morning. Mrs. Horato was an excellent teacher. Mina was her prized
pupil. "Miss Aino, I'm glad to say that you are being recommended for a
role in this year's drama, A Midsummer Night's Dream."
"I am! Oh thank you! Which
part?" Mina said with stars in her eyes.
"Hermia. She has two men chasing
after her," said Mrs. Horato.
"Thank you," Mina smiled
politely. She couldn't stand the irony of the whole thing. After the meeting
ended, she grabbed her bag and left the room.
Just then she saw a familiar face in the hallway.
"Hello, my princess." He did a
fancy bow with a simple carnation in his hand. He offered it to her.
She inhaled its sweet scent. "Thank
you, Donny."
They walked hand in hand to La Rochelle.
"I heard about the play. I'm glad you're getting a part."
"You won't believe which role they
gave me." She had a sweat drop.
"I'm guessing a strange part?"
"Hermia in A Midsummer Night's
Dream." Donny also did a sweat drop too. "You know that play?"
"Yeah. I did a report on it in Brit
Literature class."
"I still can't believe the
irony."
"I guess I'm Lysander." Donny
smiled slyly.
"Huh?" Donny explained Lysander
was the guy who ended up with Hermia. "Oh yeah." She blushed. "I
can't dream of loving anyone else."
"I know. I wouldn't think of loving
anyone else as much as I do with you." They leaned for a kiss.
"You should be an actor."
"How do you know I'm not?" He
asked slyly.
"Because you can't fake true
love." They kissed again.
Darien was sitting in his apartment. June
had left him her cherished possessions. He had never read her diary, but
nostalgia swept over him and he opened it up. The first page was dated seven
years earlier. "My dear old friend. Funny that I would call you that, but
I write to YOU, Jimmy. So, Dear Jimmy, It has been 8 years since you, Mom, Dad,
and Katie have left me. Professor Xavier has taken me in, and I have small, but
growing psychic powers." He kept reading. He understood how she became so
profound in her short life. Her powers made her more compassionate to the
feelings of others.
"What a strange dream. Angels with
silver and purple armor came to me and said that I was born with a great gift
that will change the lives of those I meet. I asked, 'What gift is that?' They
said, 'You are born with the gift of eternal love. It is with that gift that
you shall be the saving hope of someone who is lost. Lost in love and in her
destiny.' I was confused, but she said 'One day you will understand and you
will know her as the lost Princess.' So they left."
Darien's eyes widened. "She knew
about Serena even from 7 years ago. Purple and Silver Angels? Pluto! She must
be the purple angel. Then who is the silver angel?" He thought for a
moment. "It must be that other senshi that was with Sailor Pluto. But who
is she?" What could it all mean? He spent the rest of the day reading. He
felt certain of the future just as June had. He was less apprehensive and he
knew he could be a good husband to Serena and a good king. "Thanks,
June." He said in a thoughtful prayer.
Amy and Greg were walking to La Rochelle.
They happened to see Mina and Donny together. "Amy! Greg!" called
Mina. Donny waved also.
"Hi Mina! Hi Donny!" They walked
to the couple seated at a booth.
"It's nice to see you two," Mina
smiled.
"We didn't expect to see you
here," Amy replied.
"Well Donny and I came here from the
bookstore. I wanted a quiet spot to read, and Greg needed the same thing."
"I hope we won't bother you,"
replied Donny. He saw a waiter and ordered more coffee.
"Oh, no trouble. I guess we could use
a study break. It's nice getting together with friends. Anything new?"
Greg reassured Donny and Mina.
"Well I'm being offered a part in the
Drama School's Spring play," Mina said excitedly.
"That sounds great Mina!"
reacted Amy. She was sincerely happy for her friend.
"Well I'm dying to see it. What kind
of play is it?" asked Greg.
"A Midsummer Night's Dream. Rehearsal
starts in two weeks, and the play runs for two weeks at the end of May."
"Let us know when to get
tickets."
"Don't worry. I'll reserve tickets at
a discount," said Mina. They all sipped some Decaf java when Mina's communicator
beeped. "Lita?"
"Help! Insomno is attacking me and
Ken at the old elementary school." The message ended. They paid the bill
and ran out to transform.
Fifteen minutes earlier, Lita arrived at
the playground. Just as she walked in, Ken turned the corner of the block and
walked towards the entrance. He saw Lita with a large basket. She was as pretty
as always. "Hi Ken!" she waved energetically.
"Hey Lita! I'm glad you came."
He had a white t-shirt and blue jeans. She couldn't help but notice how well
his clothes fit.
"I made your favorites." She
opened the picnic basket and took Tupperware out. She opened the lids and
presented food of great array.
"Wow!" Ken could clearly see
everything he loved to eat. "You didn't have to do all this."
"That's okay. I wanted to do this.
It's been such a long time, I thought I'd make you something." She flashed
her pleasant smile. The kind that made Ken lost in its warmth.
"You spoil me! God! Whoever you marry
is going to get fat from eating a dinner that's like this!" he kidded her.
"Oh stop! I didn't make that
much!" She blushed heavily.
"Eight dishes! Including
dessert?"
"I guess I went overboard." They
sat down and snacked on some fried shrimp balls. Lita ran to the swings. She
was flying back and forth. Ken watched her. As he stared, Lita's clothes
materialized into an emerald green dress. Her skirt fluttered gently in the
breeze. She's like a princess, he thought to himself.
Suddenly Lita lost her grip and flew off
the swing. It happened so fast that she fell on Ken. They looked at each other
for a moment. "I'm sorry." She could only gaze at him.
"It's okay." He touched her face
gently. They leaned closer towards each other and gave each other a light peck
on the lips. The wonderful sensation urged them both to kiss again, but longer,
just a moment longer.
They parted and they stood up. "I
never thought that would happen," she said as she dusted her pant legs.
"I know." He looked at the
ground for a moment. "Did you like... that... kiss?" He asked as
shyly as he looked at his best friend.
"I... thought... well..." she
stumbled. She felt a little embarrassed. She realized how ridiculous it was to
be so bashful around her best friend. "It was great." She smiled
comfortingly.
"How sweet," snided a mean
voice. They looked to see Insomno.
"Run Ken!" Lita shouted.
"What's going on?" Ken asked
frantically.
Lita knew that they only way he would be
at ease is if a scout appeared. "Jupiter Star power!" Ken was stunned
to see Lita transform into the famous Sailor Jupiter. "Run!" she
cried after her transformation. Ken realized that he could do nothing so he
ran. As he left she used her communicator to call the scouts.
He ran down the block. He couldn't stand
having his friend fight alone. "Hey!" said a voice. He turned to see
a young woman with shiny armor. Her face was like perfection.
"Who are you?" asked Ken.
"I am June, the spirit of love."
"What do you want from me?" he
asked with surprise.
"Someone greater than me asked me to
give you this. Catch!" She tossed a green crystal to him.
He grabbed it and it melted into his body.
I feel strange."
"Just say Jupiter Knight Power! The
scouts need you now." June faded away. Ken knew he had to help. He ran
back to the playground and he saw the scouts and the other knights fighting
Insomno and shadow warriors.
Ken shouted "Jupiter knight
Power!" Everyone turned to see Ken in a green tuxedo. "Can anyone get
in on the action?" he asked with sarcastic humor. Two shadow warriors ran
to attack him. He raised his sword and shouted "Jupiter Thunder
Slash!" The soldiers were vaporized. The scouts and the knights were
impressed with the strength of the attack.
"Well Jupiter knight, you've finally
joined the party. Time to see how good you are!" Insomno opened his
lantern and a great blast of energy threw Jupiter knight back.
Sailor Mercury turned on her visor.
"We have to destroy the lantern. It's the source of his power.
"Jupiter Thunder Slash!" Jupiter
knight aimed at the lantern, but the attack bounced off.
"You aren't strong enough boy!"
Insomno laughed at them.
"Mars Fire Ignite!" The fire
bounced off as well.
Sailor Mercury scanned the lantern. A
smile curled her face and the others could tell she was formulating a plan.
"Shine Aqua Illusion." The lantern moved in the water's path and
blasted in return. "Mercury Bubbles Freeze!" The lantern was busy
blasting at her flying bubbles. "Look! The lantern can only focus on one
attack at a time. If we attack simultaneously, at least one of us will hit
him."
"Moon Tiara Magic" Darien threw
his rose. "Shine Aqua Illusion!" "Mars Fire Ignite!"
"Venus Crescent Beam Smash!" "Jupiter Thunder Crash!"
"Pink Sugar Heart Attack!" Their combined powers destroyed the
lantern.
Insomno panicked as he saw the last thing
he would ever see. Jupiter... Thunder... Slash!"
They all de-transformed and had a long
talk to explain things to Ken. Afterwards, a light came down from the sky.
"June?" Darien asked with shock.
"Hello, Darien." She smiled warmly.
"We've missed you," said Serena
"I am called the Spirit of Love. This
will be the last time you will see me again. Your set has been completed. I
know you are expecting a grand memory of how Princess Lita met Sir Kenneth.
What I have is very important. Lita, your mother and father, Queen and King
Jove, left you a message." June presented a crystal to Lita.
An image of a man and woman in green
appeared. "Lita. If you see this, then it means that one of many
prophecies foretold by our ancestors has been fulfilled. It said that the
kingdoms would die in the Silver Millennium. We just wanted to remind you that
you were born Queen of Jupiter. We are really your relatives from another
kingdom. Your parents died when you were still unborn. Your father died in a
transport craft accident. Your mother was also dying and you were prematurely
born. I adopted you as my daughter. We are really King and Queen Regent, but
you are the true Queen.
Lita was surprised at the news that she
was born Queen of Jupiter. The image of her parents disappeared. "I can't
believe this."
"It's shocking. Everything we learned
and heard about just amazes us all," agreed Amy.
Ken spoke then. "Lita. I remember our
lives now. Our past together."
"I see. What is there?" she asked.
As he took her hand, images struck her mind as though she was struck by one of
her own lightning bolts. "I remember too."
"What do you remember?" asked
Mina.
"I remember my adopted parents. They
had a daughter of their own. She was my sister Carmen. She was engaged
to..." she began.
"My brother Alexander. I met you on
their wedding day," finished Ken.
The scouts were introduced to the tale of
Lita and Ken in the Silver Millennium.
