Chapter 8- The Children of Venus

Mina arrived at the shoot at nine the next morning. Darien and Serena came with her to watch her work. Serena's eyes shined as she saw all the beautiful people that were working. The lights were bright, spotlights. Mina went into her dressing room and soon emerged in a fake Sailor Venus costume. "Mina! Darling!" a man with a goatee walked towards her with arms opened.

"Jose! It's good to see you again." Jose is the photographer in charge of the ad campaign for the Sailor V games.

"Come, Come. Meet the other models. Natasha Marlova will be Sailor Moon." A tall blond girl with blue eyes appeared. Serena simply stared at her for a moment. Natasha was wearing a fake Sailor Moon costume.

"She looks nothing like me," replied Serena to Darien.

"You're right. She doesn't have meat ball hair like that in real life," he teased her. Serena turned to him and glared at him.

"Oooohhhh! Even in public you have to do that to me!" Serena was irritated.

Darien wrapped his arms around her shoulders. "You know I'm kidding, bunny. I think you're beautiful." He kissed her on her cheek.

Meanwhile two other models walked up to Mina. "Evelyn Marseilles and Carmelita Esteban are Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars." Evelyn had short hair just like Amy's. She had the same friendly sparkle in her eyes, but that was where the similarities ended. Carmelita had Raye's long hair, but that was also where the similarities ended.

"I'm Sofia Andrews." A tall brunette walked to the whole groups and began shaking hands with everyone. Mina could almost swear it was Lita she was looking at. Sofia's voice was higher pitched than Lita's.

Suddenly, Venus knight appeared. Mina's heart thumped wildly. Serena and Darien, who had been talking to the other models, soon noticed him as well. "Mina, this is your Venus knight," said Jose. "Venus knight" stared intently at her just as Donny did. She could picture this model being the same Venus knight that saved them from the attack of the Fury Sisters. "This is Frankie Paris." Frankie took off his mask. He had a handsome smile and an aura of mystery surrounded him. There was no emotion in his piercing eyes. But there was just something about him that captured Mina's attention.

"Please to meet you, Mina." There was a suave, cool confidence in his voice.

"Likewise." Frankie charmed her. Could he really be Venus knight just like I'm really Sailor Venus? The strong resemblance he had to Venus Knight shocked her beyond belief. Her mind was running with confusion. Was Frankie the one for her?

After an hour of makeup work and props being set up, the photo session began. As all that was going on, Jose noticed Serena and Darien together. "What a lovely couple! You know I do photos for Modern Prom Magazine. Mina said that she has some photogenic friends. I was hoping you'd want to be in next months' issue."

"What do you think muffin?" asked Serena with sparkles in her eyes.

Darien looked at her eager face and smiled. He then looked up at Jose and said "Sure."

"Good. I'll call Mina and she could tell you when and where." Afterwards, he turned to the backdrops and began taking pictures. It was an hour later, when they took pictures of Mina and Frankie.

As the bulb flashed, Frankie held Mina in a very romantic way. "Frankie! I have someone already," she said.

"It doesn't matter. I have been waiting a long time for this moment," he reached into his pants pocket. He held a grayish orb in his hand.

"What is that?" Mina looked at him with horror.

He smashed the orb on the ground and wisps of fog blanketed the studio. Serena and Darien were disoriented in the fog. They could only hear the screams of the panicky stage crew. "Mina! Mina!" shouted Serena over the shouts of the crew.

"Mina!" Darien was also worried about her.

As they searched through the chaos, they tripped over cables and bumps into crates and walls. As suddenly as the fog appeared, a light flashed and all they could hear was Mina scream, "Help Me!"

"What! Mina was kidnapped!??" asked Lita with alarm.

"It happened so fast. She was gone before I could transform." Serena felt guilty that she couldn't prevent Mina's abduction.

"That guy... Frankie was also gone. He has to be the one who took her," concluded Darien.

"It's my fault that Mina was snatched," said a voice.

They turned to see Venus knight enter the temple grounds. "How did you find us?" Raye didn't bother trying to deny anything.

"I know Darien. I just followed him here." Venus knight turned into Donny.

"You're Venus knight? And you didn't tell me?" Darien exclaimed in amazement.

"I'm sorry. I had to make sure you were who I thought you were. Especially Mina," He had sad dreamy look in his eyes as he said her name.

"You know what happened to her?" asked Lita.

"I should have been on guard. But I didn't think he was still alive. Because of my foolishness, my beloved is gone."

"If you know something, then say it!" Raye grew impatient.

"Look Raye. The dude already feels bad. I mean I felt horrible when Ramsera attacked you the first time. I didn't know what I could do to help. I'm sure Darien and Greg felt the same way before," Chad defended Donny. Greg and Darien agreed with Chad.

"I'm sorry. It's just that I'm worried about Mina. Just who is that guy Frankie anyway?" Raye said anxiously.

"It's a long story that began with my memories of Princess Mina," said Tony.

Prince Paris was born on New Cyprus. A fraternal twin, Adonis, was born an hour later. The young princes were as different as night and day. Paris, as in the myth, was a handsome youth. He was wild and impetuous. He was filled with great extremes of emotion. His impulsive nature was feared. Dione, their mother, was troubled at the idea of betrothing Paris to Princess Mina, heiress of the Planet Venus. Paris had developed a great zeal to be king.

Adonis, on the other hand, was a more reliable man. He was bookish in his studies, but he had a kind heart. Just as Paris was passionate, Adonis was sincere.

Both had one thing in common. They were both interested in Princess Mina, the most beautiful and powerful girl on Venus.

Mina and her Lady-in-waiting, Sofia, were at the royal palace. "Oh Princess! Your 14th birthday is so near. And your marriage to Prince Paris will be announced!" Sofia sighed. Every Venusian girl was "in-love" with Paris.

"I suppose so." Princess Mina sighed sadly.

"What is the matter princess? Your marriage will be on the bicentennial of your family's rule on Venus."

"It's just that I can't stop thinking about Prince Adonis," Princess Mina said with hearts in her eyes.

"I wished you didn't do what you did. You dressed in my uniform, snuck over to the castle of New Cyprus, and spied on the Princes," groaned Sofia.

"Don't you see? The spirit of my ancestor Aphrodite controls my fate remember? It is my destiny to marry Adonis. He's just as handsome as Paris. He's so clever and most of all...... he loves me. He said it more than once, I might add."

"What about Paris?"

"I don't know. I just don't know." Mina's tears fell down her face. She saw the trap that she had fallen into.

It was a week later at Mina's birthday party. The brothers were introduced to the reclusive Princess Mina. Though his eyes showed surprise, Adonis stayed calm. He found a moment alone with her. "Why didn't you tell me who you really were?" He held her gently by the shoulders.

"How do you think it would look if I told you who I was? A princess dressed in servant's clothes, hiding in bushes, watching boys?" she said defensively.

He gave her credit. "It doesn't matter what your real name is. I still love you." They were locked in a tender kiss.

"You!!!!!!" screamed Paris, sword drawn for a duel.

Ten minutes earlier... "Beryl?" Paris was alone in the library of the palace.

"I have helped you defeat your family's enemies. You know what I want."

"You want Prince Endymion for your husband and king. Of course, you know our agreement. You would ensure that I become king of Venus and Mina becomes my bride."

Her face snarled, but soon soften to her compliant look. "Very well. Go to the palace gardens. You will find the last barrier to your goal. Once you eliminate him, all will be yours."

Paris hurried to the garden. As he neared, he heard Mina saying, "How do you think it would look..." He could clearly see Adonis and Mina in a serious conversation. He immediately saw them kiss.

"You!!!" screamed Paris with sword drawn. The clashing swords soon attracted the attention of the guests at the party. The dueling brothers soon left the confining garden towards the sea cliffs outside the palace grounds. Princess Mina ran following them to prevent bloodshed. "It's all my fault. They are fighting because of me." Mina sobbed even harder as she repeated the thought over and over.

"It's not your fault," said a voice. Mina stopped in her tracks. She turned and saw a beautiful angel of golden light. Her face appeared to be an older, mature version of Mina.

"Queen Aphrodite!" Mina had seen many paintings and statues of her ancestor.

"Never believe for one moment that this is your doing. It was a matter of time that those two brothers would have to settle their long time differences," Aphrodite said. She floated to the sky and disappeared in a flash of light. Mina stopped crying and took Aphrodite's advice. But she had to stop the fight. She continued running.

The clanging of the swords still continued. "I just want to talk," shouted Adonis.

"There is nothing to say. You are destroying the path of fate for us." Paris grunted with every thrust and parry of his sword.

"What are you talking about?"

"It was my destiny to be king. Mina is to be my bride, but if she loves another, there is no guarantee that she will be loyal to me. She could refuse to let me be her consort. I love her!" screamed Paris as he tried to slash his twin.

"Is it her beauty or her power that you love so much?" Adonis was neared towards the cliff's edge, but neither noticed.

"Why should you care? You should worry about your brother killing you!" Paris ran towards his twin to stab.

"No!!!!!" Mina screamed as she saw the gruesome scene. Adonis dodged the attack. Paris ran past his brother and screamed as he plummeted onto the beach below.

Three days later, Prince Paris was buried. And a month before the last ball on the Moon, the engagement of Prince Adonis and Princess Mina was announced.

"So your dead brother from the Silver Millennium is still after Mina?" asked Raye. Donny nodded the affirmative.

"Got it! I locked onto her signal! The cerebro program I had installed can locate any of us as long as we have a communicator or a transformation pen," said Amy.

They did a group huddle and made a rescue plan. The girls and Venus knight would go. The other knights and Rini would stay in Tokyo to hold down the fort. The girls and Donny transformed. They quickly used Sailor Teleport to go to Paris's stronghold.
